As the world accelerates towards the 2030 deadline for global sustainability targets, the ancient city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, is preparing to host one of the most significant international gatherings focused on environmental protection and climate governance. From May 30 to June 6, 2026, the historic Silk Road hub will become the centre of global environmental diplomacy for the 8th Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Lesotho as a member of GEF will take part in this historic event.
