The Information and Data Management Division is responsible for the collection, management, analysis and disemination of environmental data and information to support evidence-based decision making and sustainable development.
Mandate
- To establish a comprehensive environmental reporting system
- To develop and maintain an environmental metadatabase which allows systematic collection, documentation and archiving of datasets
- To determine in regular consultation with key stakeholders environmental issues that require additional information
- To co-ordinate environmental data exchange initiative at national, regional and international levels
- To produce every 5 years National environment Report on status of environment
Specific Objectives
- To enhance DoE capacity to manage environmental data
- To aid in providing a holistic view of the physical environment, resource availability, allocation as well as economic, socio-cultural, and ultimately human welfare conditions and trends through Environment Outlook Report (EOR)
- To interface with other on-going initiatives in Lesotho to develop data and information for different aspects of national development planning and decision-making
- To facilitate access to data and policy-relevant information for informed decision making on environmental issues
