First National Workshop on the Biosafety Clearing House

The Department of Environment held the first national workshop on the Biosafety Clearing House (BCH) from 25 to 27 January 2012 in Maseru. The workshop was attended by representatives of the national competent authorities on biosafety. The main objective of the workshop was to familiarise participants with the BCH: how to register and search for information on the BCH.

The workshop was supported by United Nations Environment Programme under the ‘Continued Enhancement of Capacity-Building in the Biosafety Clearing House’ project. The Department will hold two more workshops aimed at different stakeholder groups, including but not limited to Agriculture extension officers, Customs officers, Lesotho Agricultural College, National University of Lesotho, and farmer and consumer associations.
