 Commemoration of World Environment Day


The Department of Environment in collaboration with Geography and Environment Movement commemorated World Environment Day at St Joseph`s High School on the 24th May 2012. The day was marked by essay writing competition and Environmental Relay. The topic for essay competition was on this year`s Environment day theme which is “Green Economy, does it include you” 8 high schools and 7 primary schools participated in this event.  E-Waste Assessment Workshop


The Department of Environment conducted electronic-waste (e-waste) assessment workshop on the 21th to the 22nd June 2012 at Victoria Hotel. The purpose of this workshop was to review progress made on e-waste assessment and regulatory Regime project. Thirty different stakeholders from academia, private sector, non-governmental organizations and government ministries participated in this workshop. Click here to view gallery.

 

 International Year of Biodiversity Celebration

 
In December 2006 the United Nations General Assembly declared 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB). The intention was to bring international attention to the importance of biodiversity, and the losses that it is currently suffering. The Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture through the department of Environment celebrated IYB at Likatseng Village within Nyakosoba Council on the 11th June 2010 by planting of indigenous trees.  Launch of the National Strategy of Education for Sustainable Development

 
The Department of Environment of the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture and Lesotho National Commission for UNESCO launched the National Strategy of Education for Sustainable Development on 17 June, 2009 at the National Convention Centre. Click here to view gallery.


 
 Maseru CBD (East) Cleaning Campaign Pictures

 
The Department of Environment, with other departments under the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture joined a cleaning campaign organized by the Matlama Football Club and the Maseru City Council on the 6th June 2008 to commemorate the Club`s 75th Anniversary.
